I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (R.C.C.) that specializes in working with children and youth. My years working as a classroom teacher have given me a unique understanding of the challenges young people face, whether they are navigating friendships, school pressures, family changes, anxiety, self-esteem, or simply trying to understand who they are.
I completed my Master of Education in School Counselling through City University, building on my Bachelor of Education and years of experience in education. My counselling approach is primarily grounded in Person-Centred Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, with Solution-Focused Therapy incorporated when appropriate. I believe counselling should be collaborative and tailored to each individual child or youth. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, and I strive to meet each young person where they are. I am committed to ongoing professional growth and plan to pursue additional training in other counselling modalities to continue expanding the approaches and tools I can offer.
Building a trusting relationship is at the heart of my work. My goal is to create a warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental space where children and youth feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings, develop healthy coping strategies, recognize their strengths, and build confidence in their ability to navigate life's challenges. I also believe parents and caregivers play an important role in a young person's well-being. When appropriate, I value working collaboratively with families to support meaningful and lasting change.
I know that reaching out for counselling can be a big step—for both a young person and their parents. My hope is to make that first step feel comfortable and to provide children and youth with a space where they feel safe, supported, and genuinely understood.
